Dracula...Godmother...huh?

I have been dying to read something new since I ended the Summer semester.  I tried reading Bram Stoker's Dracula and had to quit.  Ugh.  It is very unusual for me to give up on a book, but I did so with a light heart.  I have to read it for my Victorian Lit class in the Fall, so I didn't feel bad quitting. It was torturous and I hadn't even made it to page 100 yet.  I figure I will read it when it is assigned and maybe be able to finish it with the motivation that you can't make an A in Dr. Bragg's class without reading every word.

So, like I was saying, I wanted something to read.  I wanted something light and easy, but good.  Just a way to waste some time and lose myself for a few hours. So my friend, Karel (she insists on mentioning me in her blog, so I am just returning the favor) recommended Godmother by Carolyn Turgeon.  She insisted that she got right into it and loved it....well, I read the first few pages and had no idea what I was reading.  So, I restarted, maybe my mind drifted a few times onto other subjects who knows?   I just finished chapter one, and I still have no idea what is going on.  I saw the heading for chapter two and wondered how I had gotten there.  So, I am going to sit down in a quiet corner and re-read chapter one hoping that when I arrive at chapter two I will know how I got there.

Wish me luck, or give me ideas for another book...either way I need it!

a little drum roll please...

Although I probably need no introduction, (I doubt any strangers will be following my blogs) I guess I can tell you all why I decided to start blogging. I love to read, I am extremely passionate about reading. So much that I decided to change my major from Spanish to English.  I would love to be in a million book clubs, but will have to start working one day.  If I teach Literature, it will sort of be like getting paid to be the leader of a book club.  And I get to pick all the books!
Like I said, I love to read and discuss my opinions on what I have read.  Rarely do I get to though. Here in the country hunting and fishing seriously out ranks reading and I haven't many people to discuss my readings with.  Those I know that do read as often as I do, usually have different tastes in books.  Like my mother, she reads as much as I do, but is very picky about what she reads. Where as I will read just about anything that someone says "Hey this was a good read". So, if you choose to follow my blog you will no doubt have a wide array of book reviews headed your way and lots of choices to choose from!
I am in school full time, so many of the posts will probably be what I am reading for my classes.  I usually love just about everything I read..or I can find something good about it, so hopefully I will have nothing but recommendations for you all!
I haven't been reading too much this past month while on break from school, I really want to, but have no motivation.  Not to mention I have been busy busy!  I have a wonderful foreign exchange student spending July with my family.  He is from Spain and has quickly become a permanent member of my family.  His cousin is staying down the street with my parents and already feels like a brother to me!  We have been so blessed with two great additions to our family this summer!
Tomorrow marks a huge day for my family!  We go to family court for Trinity's adoption to be finalized!  Chris and Trinity are both so excited to have this completed! So keep your fingers crossed that all goes smoothly and there are no hang ups that our lawyers haven't foreseen and everything is able to be finalized!
Ok, I guess I am going to go randomly select a book off the shelf or out of my e-reader so I can start writing some more!
